What Is NMLS Consumer Access?

NMLS Consumer Access is a free, publicly accessible website maintained by the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS). It allows consumers to verify the license status of mortgage companies, mortgage brokers, and individual loan originators before doing business with them.

The NMLS was created by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) and the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR) to provide a central licensing and supervisory database for state-regulated mortgage professionals. It was established under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act).

Before you work with any mortgage company or loan originator, you should verify their license. NMLS Consumer Access lets you:
